Usually when people think about art and design they do not think about automobiles. When they visualize automakers they visualize engineers and not artists. Yet the parts of the car that interact people more is the interior such as the seats, steering wheel, dashboard, etc. This is the work of an artist more than the engineers.

The interior and the exterior of the automobile includes the color, the trim, the material that lined the door panels and the seating arrangements are the creatures of the automotive designers these people works to bring the art to the industry.

They are called as the professional involved in developing the appearance and comforts and ergo dynamics to vehicle on the road, they generally works as team one will be responsible for the exterior another will be working on the interior design such as deciding on the concepts as shape and placement of the panels, seats covers, cushions doors trim panels, windshields, headliner etc. and the remaining will work on the colors and materials.

These engineers have knowledge of aerodynamic, ergonomics and engineering they are basically artists and are trained in the arts schools. Every year hundreds of the young graduates join the design studios to become a part of these teams. Although they play a major role in bringing new emerging designs everyday.

Harvey Earl who works for General Motors credited the art of design in the American industry. He introduced the idea pre-styling the auto body through the use of two dimensions drawing and with the clay models. Earl was responsible for the innovations of the curved windshields.

Giorgetto Giugiaro who born in Italy in 1938 a creative designers whose designs include more than 200 cars designs and cameras. Some of the a few products were 1980 Fiat Panda, VW Golf and 1971 Alfa Sud. Also he received car designers of the century award in 1999.

An Italian designer Marcello Gandini at the age of 20 he designed the first concept car and he was further responsible for the design of the sport car Lamborghini Miura. The layout was successfully approved in the competition.

These automobile designers will continue to motivate the young graduates and they are also responsible for the creations of the comforts, interiors and the designs that we see in the cars that can catch everyone’s eye.
